Pen Pals

Would you like to be a Pen Pal? With support from the Banff Canmore Community Foundation, the Banff Public Library and the Banff Elementary School are working together to create a Pen Pal Program.

The goal of the program is to help Gr. 4 students with their letter-writing curriculum, to foster ties between generations, and to create community at a time when we are more isolated than ever before.

We are looking for volunteers to correspond 3 times with a Grade 4 student between February and April 2022. Please provide your name, email, mailing address and phone number if you would like to be a part of this project. Please include your mailing address in the notes section on the form.

All Pen Pals will receive a Letter Writing Kit from the Library.

Thank you for your interest. We will be in touch with you in early January 2022 with more information and a timeline for letters.

Virtual Book Club with Mojo Anderson

Join us one Thursday of the month as we get together with Mojo Anderson to discuss different books around each month's theme.

Mary Jo “Mojo” Anderson began her book publishing career in Toronto and went on to own an independent bookstore in Halifax, Frog Hollow Books, for almost 30 years. The store hosted hundreds of events with Canadian and international literary luminaries. Anderson produced and hosted radio and television shows including Choyce Words, a television show that spanned over a decade. She was a regular book panelist on CBC Radio and wrote a book column, as well as author profiles, for the Chronicle Herald. Since moving to Banff ten years ago, Anderson has interviewed authors at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Wordfest, continuing conversations with authors from around the world.

In January we feature the author Richard Wagamese. Read any book or books by Richard Wagamese and share in the literary discussion.

Next meeting will be held in January 27, 2022.
