Membership

Library membership is free for all residents of the town of Banff and Improvement District No. 9 (ID9) - the area outside of the town of Banff but within Banff National Park, including Lake Louise and Saskatchewan River Crossing. Registration can be done in-person at the Library or by filling out the form below.

Picture ID and proof of residency are required to obtain a library card. Proof of residency may include a:

  • driver’s license
  • lease agreement
  • Internet, phone, or power bill 

Alberta residents with a membership from another municipal library may sign up for limited borrowing privileges at Banff Public Library through ME Libraries.

Non-residents may obtain a membership for a non-refundable annual fee of $70.00.

Banff Public Library does not charge late fees but encourages patrons to return their items by the due dates so that they are available for others to borrow.

Late fees by donation are welcome.

By registering for a membership at Banff Public Library, you agree to be responsible for all materials borrowed on all cards issued under this application. 

The personal information contained on this application is used to provide you with library services at participating member libraries of The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) and The Alberta Library. It may be shared with these libraries to verify membership, collect fines or debts owing, provide information about library services, and for statistical purposes. It is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and it is protected under this act.
